Point of fact, it's "EASIER" to believe there are no gods at all. Nothing exists that we haven't encountered, witnessed, measured or painted a Red Sox emblem on.
Nothing that's written down that describes anything outside of our experience or personal history needs to be accepted.

That's the easiest story.

Reality doesn't work that way, though.

Assuming that this was addressed to me, that's not my point.
For one thing, the 'big bang' isn't 'an atom exploded and-'.
For another, if i don't believe in god, i don't have to believe in any other story. If you're going by what's 'easiest' to believe, we reject anything outside our experience. Like Gods, Bangs, evolution, history, and so on. Life is what we see and that's it.
Now, when you want to start examining alternate explanations for where we came from, then it's not all that easy. You have to start asking what stories are out there, and what evidence they have going for them. 'Easiest' doesn't cover it.
But if you want to go that way, a story that has things we know exist HAS to be easier than accepting a story that has things we've never encountered.
Biological change is easier than panspermia.

Ah. A telling point. The afterlife has nothing to do with where we came from.
You fear oblivion, and want to have a reason to believe that your life has significance. You don't accept religion because you have any proof, it's because it's the only story that has what you feel is a happy ending.

In science, the only way a theory is discarded is if another, better theory is suggested, that explains the observations recorded, and does it better than the old theory.
In your case, and the case of many christains, it seems obvious that you won't discard your favorite myths until someone comes up with a better myth that talks to all your fears and tucks you in at night.
