Heaven is supposed to be a place where people get to commune joyfully with God for eternity. There is no sin, no suffering, no disease and no death.
When you boil it all down, heaven is the reason these religions exist. It is the one prize they all offer; the one goal we all must aspire to. Without heaven there is no need to believe in Jehovah, Jesus or Allah. There is no need to become a martyr for the cause, to do good, to worry about your place in the after life.
Heaven is an eternal paradise.
If all that's true, then why in hell [pardon the pun] did god bother to create the earth? Why didn't he just stop when he put the last star in the firmament? Why bother?
