I think that they should be included because they are written by muslims who were recording the prophets teachings as he said them and also his decisions and his deeds. They are effectively the Islamic equivalent of the New Testament and are treated with equal regard as that of the Quran.
Most importantly, most people think that only the Quran is used to provide guidance for muslims, when actually, because their prophet is considered the ideal human and ultimate flawless role model, the records of his behaviour provide a blueprint for muslims to try and emulate. It is the hadiths that from what I have read contain even more violence and injustice than the Quran.
Also I believe that the works of Ibn Ishaq should be included because it is the equivalent of an apostle's words, having been written by a muslim who was with Muhammed and was writing his biography as it happened, which included events such as Muhammed ordering the deaths of civilians who criticised him and/or islam, such as with the poetess Asma bint Marwan who was killed for writing a poem that criticised islam.
