Evolution is often misused and misinterpreted. Scientists often leap to conslusions about which species begat which other species, and religious people often try to reduce evolution to the theory that one day a monkey gave birth to a modern human, so that they can mock it. People sometimes try to make evolution so simple that they actually complicate it. But evolution isn't that difficult. It requires only three things:
1. Reproduction. (Organisms often reproduce).
2. Mutuation. (Reproduction is often less-than-perfect).
3. Selection. (Those individuals most capable of survival are often more likley to survive and pass their traits on).
I can't think of anyone, even nutty, religious, kooky people, who would deny that all three of these things occur on a regular basis. If these things occur, then isn't evolution a foregone conclusion?
