So where are these people getting their justification? Seems to me that God/dess gave us medical knowledge for a reason...
It reminds me of that joke about the guy who was stuck on his roof due to a flood...a boat came by, and offered him a ride, which he refused, saying that God would save him. Then he was in water up to his neck, and another boat came by and offered to rescue him, and he refused, saying that he had faith that God would save him. Then he's treading water, and along comes a helicopter. He refuses their help also, once again citing his faith in God. Finally, he drowns, and when he gets to heaven, he tells God, "Lord, I had faith in you. Why didn't you save me?"
God tells him, "I sent you two boats and a helicopter--what more do you want?"
So what's the deal with these people who let their children die--usually from easily cured illnesses--citing their religion as a justification?
