Q: In Matthew 10:22, Jesus says, He that endureth to the end shall be saved. But that doesnt seem to be what is required for salvation in other passages. Some say that a person must confess Jesus Christ as the Son of God and believe that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9, for instance); others say that individuals will be judged according to their works; others say that an individual must be born again (John 3:3), Mark 16:16 says He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, and First John 4:7 says that everyone who loves is born of God. There seems to be quite a variety of ways to be saved! This is contradictory, isnt it?
A: All the verses involved in the question describe complementary conditions, not contradictory ones. As far as the verse at hand (Matthew 10:21) is concerned, it simply serves to define the sort of faith that is required from sinners in order to be saved -- /persevering/ faith. It seems self-evident to me that when the Bible says that an individual must believe in order to be saved, its talking about a genuine belief, not a feigned one, and an enduring faith, not a temporary one. This verse is just defining the sort of requisite belief that is mentioned elsewhere.
[Btw, the SABs comparison-chart for What must you do to be saved? presents the same passage ~ Luke 10:26 ~ in two different categories (Follow the commandments and All you need is love). This seems a little strange/redundant.]
