Most words in the English language carry multiple meanings. Look up anything in Merriam-Webster online for example.

As the caustic one points out, why would a god as powerful as the god of Abraham purportedly is rely on obscure, finely balanced points of interpretation to get his message across? Isn't he powerful enough to tell us directly if he wants?

I'm reminded of a discussion I heard on the radio about telepathic powers. The sceptic made the point; "As a means of transmitting information it takes a poor second place behind the telephone!" The same applies to bibleGod. He might exist, but he's indistinguishable from background noise.

The fact that stares one in the face is that people of the greatest sincerity and of all levels of intelligence differ and have always differed in their religious beliefs. Since at most one faith can be true, it follows that human beings are extremely liable to believe firmly and honestly in something untrue in the field of revealed religion.
