wagering my soul? | #2 | ||

In the end of the last reply, it only matters that I was once skeptical.
I meant gist, no one better than me can confuse when typing the english language... You said to me: That's amazing faith. You acknowledge problems with translations, interpolations, agendas, and the limitations of the authors and still find the result worth wagering your soul on. I never acknowledged problems with the original authors, only translations and teachings. However some translations are as close as they can come when translating from one language to another. The truth is still there to anyone who wants it. Wagering my soul? It would be more of a wager to just not seek the truth or to not know it, or care. After all no belief means we get nothing, my belief means life, either way right or wrong, to not believe means to just get nothing, me if I am wrong I get what non believers do "nothing", but if I am right....I get life. |

Quote:You acknowledged that their reporting of events was limited to what they could see/hear, just as witnesses of an accident. Quote:THere are a million interpretations of the universe. SOme of them christain, some not. SOme of them based on The Books, some not. Some based on the Books contradict others based on the very same Books. You've determined that your interpretation is the favored one. Good luck with that. Quote:Unless, of course, the NT is a test. The OT has the means of determining who the Messiah is. Jesus did not fulfill those. It's possible that anyone who gets to the Pearly Gates and believes in Jesus, despite having plenty of opportunity to see that he didn't qualify, are the ones that are going to hell for falling for a false prophet. Maybe the only rule for getting into Heaven is to have rejected the False Messiah. Again, good luck with that. |

No, I said or meant that the authors told the story according to their witness testimony, I am sorry if you did not interpret it that way, however I do not see the contradictions. Neither of three statements deny the validity of the other.
Yes, you are right there are millions of interpretations of the universe. I do not need luck, because I know scripture is right, so I am prepared to see less and less God and more everything else by way of beliefs in todays world.... it does not make them right. You should also see alot more of the Jihad...(yihad) based on the oldest writings of this kind known, the Dead Sea Scrolls, and similiar sectarian groups. You should also see more Muslims, and there are today more than ever, they out number protestants something like 10 to 1. You should see more scientologists, more people practicing witchcraft or just calling their trade a "craft", more wars, less oil at higher prices, everything is going the way scripture foretold it, I am satisfied. So I do not believe, my faith is the favored one today at all in fact I believe it is the least favored. As far as luck goes, you should know how I feel about that. And Heaven? ....that's for some other time, some other post. |

No his god is fear. That's what truly controls a person who devotes their lives to a being they don't understand.
"If I were God, and I made myself into a regular ol' person, I would have written down the stuff I said myself. I would have had people there with me taking notes. I wouldn't rely on people from the generation after my death to get the story right." - i would be an astronaut on the SAB Message Board |
