To put it simply, in this passage the name "Israel" is representing the entire world. The "Lost Sheep" represent all who do not know Christ.

How do you know that the author intended "Isreal" to mean the entire world? That makes little sense. Why would he do that instead of just saying "the entire world?"
"If I were God, and I made myself into a regular ol' person, I would have written down the stuff I said myself. I would have had people there with me taking notes. I wouldn't rely on people from the generation after my death to get the story right." - i would be an astronaut on the SAB Message Board |

Zipkikr,
you are correct. The True Little Flock follow only the words of Yahshuah and avoid the words of Paul. BTW when Yahhsuah used the word dog he used the dminutive word "puppy" and the Canaanite woman said yes and don't the puppies get the crumbs that fall from the Master's table? By using the word puppy he is telling her what he thinks of the traditional Jewish habit of calling Canaanites dogs. She picks up on it and playfully presents her request which Jesus immedately granted when he saw that she harbored no resentment in her heart against the Jews. |

Lim, please document your assertion that the Jews 'traditionally' referred to the Canaanites as 'dogs': I'm not familiar with such usage.

'Israel' represents 'Israel' - or 'the children of Israel' or the Jewish people.

I believe that the Jews did refer to Gentiles as dogs, in a racist fashion.
The earliest Christians (known as the Nazarenes) were a sect/denomination of Judaism who believed Yeshua (Jesus) was the Messiah. They followed the Jewish laws and their leader James said that Gentiles could join but they had to at least follow the Noahide Laws (in Acts, the laws listed are the less offences, clearly there was never a question of Gentiles being able to murder/steal etc.). This was the case in most Jewish sects, Gentiles could be welcomed as Men of God without circumcision and full adherance to the law. It's still considered okay for gentiles within Judaism to stick to the Noahide laws. If you read the Epistle to the Galatians (proven to be written by Paul) it's fairly clear that his enemies that he wants to castrate themselves are in fact the apostles of Jesus. |
