Quote:HAHA! You're kidding!
If John the Baptist had realised that he was Elijah and profess such to the Jews and they believed in him, then they would have believed Jesus was the Messiah, the Saviour, and he would not have been crucified for the redemption of our sins. Jesus crucifixion was a major constituent of the mission of the Messiah.
So rather than make Jesus' identity clear, thus making the Jews (and everyone else) see the truth, god decided to obfuscate it so that he could save the world through some odd plan of trying to get people to believe that he pretended to kill himself so that he could forgive people for being what he designed them to be? Nonsense.
"If I were God, and I made myself into a regular ol' person, I would have written down the stuff I said myself. I would have had people there with me taking notes. I wouldn't rely on people from the generation after my death to get the story right." - i would be an astronaut on the SAB Message Board
