This sounds like one of those shoehorn jobs at work again. This allows the believer to justify being adverse to atheists , homosexuals, and whoever else they may not feel so lovey about. It seperates the "others" from the fellow believer.

"Love thy neighbor..." means, quite simply, love other Jews who were obviously your physical neighbor in early predominantly Jewish communities. I
highly doubt that Jesus, as a Jew, advocated loving his people's Roman oppressors. '

Which is really obnoxious, given how Jesus made it very clear that your neighbor is "He who shows you kindness". Which could be anyone, even a Roman
oppressor

"Which is really obnoxious"
Of course it is. And yes he did.....but we have seen the shoving of personal views into scripture all the time. Truthfulness and integrity never seems to enter into the equation enough, when a believer believes that thier view is in that bible, somewhere. I doubt we will ever witness the day , when a believer says," god of the bible made a mistake , when he didn`t put *fill in the blank* in the list of obominations....he really should have, cause they or it sucks". |

Surely wanting to anally rape another man's house guests is being inhospitable?
One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double
the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half. Sir Winston

Inhospitality/homosexuality....yea , I can see the confussion ,lol.
The confussion between adolesent male prostitutes and consentual sex or love between adult males...again, the confussion is apparent, if in fact the believer chooses to infuse thier own attitudes into the understanding , then , like some kind of contagen, pass that on to thier children. Those children turn into those nasty little evangelising, closetted , self hating ,venom spewing, mega churchers , that get caught with thier pants down with some young hunk boy toy (and 7 kids and a wife). Reconcile that one. When , all it boiled down to , was be welcoming and hospitable to your guest. (altho , the thing with the daughters was bizarre and immoral. Its like it was added in later, to beef up the story) |
