What we usually see here in Virginia amounts to little more than a crudely fashioned wooden cross with tempera paint name and "God Bless" or some such, plus a cheap bouquet of flowers.

After a few weeks, the paint has run and the flowers are tattered. After that, the cross falls apart and sometimes into the roadway.
