Your fire fighter example reminds me of how I sometimes deal with my pre-school aged kids. It is sometimes necessary to speak very sharply or even spank them in situations when I need to quickly get their attention.

However, I rarely (Ok, never) feel compelled to deal with other adults this way. And if I did, namecalling probably isn't the method I would use.
