Back when I was a Christian I used to use these kinds of justifications to resolve contradictions. Eventually I realized that I was just playing mental gymnastics and that I was lying to myself about the contradictions.
If God wanted us to be Atheists we'd be born that way.

Ditto for me. Apparently there are still some holding on to Hal Linseys Fig tree interpretation. There are those who witnessed the formation of the state of Isreal in 48 still living. So there is your 3rd. I wonder just how many ways this can be rationalized. Now I will wait to see if Waterrock will attack Linseys interpretation. Maybe its just not creative enough for him. Not enough time left maybe? |

Actually, I'm not sure why anyone would link the fig tree with Israel. The Bible doesn't seem make the fig tree a metaphor for Israel very often.
Actually, the Romans held the fig tree to be sacred because it was under the fig tree that Remus and Romulus were suckled. Jesus' cursing of the fig tree elsewhere is certainly a veiled attack on Rome. If God wanted us to be Atheists we'd be born that way.
