You're not wrong, just unsupported. There is nothing in the text that indicates Cain gave anything other than his very best, you've just added a twist to justify the actions of God as you understand them.
Yes, I think that Yahoweh of the Bible likes blood sacrifices above all others in the Hebrew Scriptures, and most especially those of large domesticated mammals. Blood sacrifice is a prominent feature and always highly regarded.
