Today a JW knocked on my door. I pointed out science mistakes in the Bible and mentioned bad history in Daniel. He asked me which translation I was using and I said that the Bible is messed up to begin with, translations nonwithstanding. He said I was using articles instead of looking at the Bible and also that I was not digging for the deeper meaning.I pointed out that in Daniel, there was a dream with a tree in the middle of the earth. That indicates flat earth belief. Also, I had him look in the Bible and read where the Devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, which would only be possible on a flat earth. He said, Satan only said that he would give the kingdoms to Jesus. I pointed out in his own Bible, that he SHOWED him all the kingdoms,(not just told him about it.) So he is the one not going by the Bible. I told him I have to go by what the Bible says. It says he took him to the highest mountain and showed him all the kingdoms. I told him that, as I told another JW, when the Bible is wrong, they try to assign the passage in question, a figurative meaning. He asked where did the earth come from and said that science doesn't know everything. I explained that he is looking for a gap in our knowledge and plugging that with God. Even if science doesn't have all the answers, that doesn't prove the existence of God. After all, a long time ago, Thor and Zeus were used to explain the weather. I pointed out that God created light before he created the stars and sun and plants. He said, that God can create things however he wants. (sounds like the "divine light" dodge Waterrock used a long time ago).I said that God divided light from darkness according to the Bible. That is unnecessary since darkness is merely the absence of light. He actually said that was dividing good from evil! I said that if the Bible can't get the shape of the earth right, how can you trust anything else it says? If the Bible has any errors, it can't be the "Word of God." I also pointed out the four corners of the earth. I mentioned that we use expressions like sunrise and sunset even though we know better, but those expressions originated from when those expressions were taken literally. I pointed out the shame of Jesus killing innocent pigs by driving demons into them. I pointed out that if the Bible was scientific, Jesus should have healed people by casting out germs and viruses. I told him science has a better track record than the Bible. I pointed out that JW's use the four witnesses at an accident routine. The difference between that and the Resurrection is a traffic accident is believable and traffic witnesses are just giving their own perspective but the Bible writers were supposedly inspired by God. The only reason to believe the Bible is its divine authorship but the contradictions, mistakes, etc. give away the human origins.
